I know high fashion labels have their “runway” collection and their “real” collection; the latter being the one that hits the stores. Occasionally, a few pieces from the runway get mixed with the “real” more wearable lot, with no adjustments made whatsoever. A good example is this maxi skirt from Preen:
Now I’m sure you know Preen makes really expensive merchandise, but sometimes, their prices are so ridiculously high that I just end up laughing. Don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate high fashion and I can appreciate luxury, but I sometimes wonder where they get their incredulous numbers. The Ash Maxi for instance (as seen above), retails at a really pricey USD2565.
Yes, it’s made in UK, but at that price, you would expect something beautiful, or at the very least, attractive. However, I’m not sure if I can even qualify the Ash Maxi as pretty. With its odd combination of black denim yoke + accordion pleated printed silk chiffon, I would say this one is not exactly something anyone can wear. It’s not ugly, but I think it will take someone with personality to carry the piece.
So basically, my questions are, do you love the Ash Maxi or do you hate it? Would you wear it? Do you think it’s worth the price? If you think you can rock the Ash Maxi, feel free to shop for it via Shopbop. It’s a fresh arrival over there.
